I testify to you that our general authorities as now constituted are those whom God wants to be at the head of His church. I so testify because I firmly believe that God gives us the leaders which we deserve. If we want better leaders we must stop spending so much time looking beyond the mark for things which are hard to understand and learn to love the Book of Mormon and other scriptures for the words of plainness contained therein.

The simplest, earliest beginnings of my testimony started when I was a young child. When I was six years old or less, my mother told me that life is a stage and we each play a part. It comforted me to know that someone was watching. When I was about ten years old I started attending a Southern Baptist Mission in the Pacheco town hall (Pacheco, California).

Koran Vs Sharia/ Evidence of Heresy

In a recent letter I wrote to the president of Hillsdale College, I discussed an article from the February, 2016 edition of Imprimis written by Andrew C. McCarthy about Islam as follows.

SOME GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS ABOUT ISLAM

March 6th, 2016

THE SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN DID NOT PREVENT THEM FROM FUNDING TERRORISTS OR SUPPLYING THEM WITH WAR MATERIALS TO USE AGAINST OUR MILITARY AND OUR ALLIES. THE REPARATIONS OBAMA ARRANGED FOR US TO GIVE IRAN CAN ONLY BE SEEN AS TRIBUTE; TRIBUTE TO AN ISLAMIST TERRORIST STATE.

Because I have studied the Koran and feel embarrassed by some of the nonsensical talk I hear about it I feel the need to pass on to my friends some of the good news and some of the bad news on that subject. While it is true that the Koran tells Moslems who are at war to kill their enemies where ever they find them, the Koran gives wonderful support to moderate Islam.

LOOKING BEYOND THE MARK FOR ATONEMENT

November 18th, 2015

I believe we have been looking beyond the mark in the defining of atonement. In Alma 33:16 Alma quotes Zenock from the scriptures; "Thou art angry , O Lord, with this people, because they will not understand thy mercies which thou hast bestowed upon them because of thy Son." The sacrifice of the Lord's lifeblood and the death of his body was an offering for sin. That offering was part of a bargain. The bargain is not complete until we give up our sins. We must give Jesus every sinful practice and desire for the bargain to result in atonement. Even if Jesus performed something like a Volcan mind meld in order to weigh each of our sins, that would not be atonement. Atonement is not complete until we give up the sins which the Lord paid for on the cross and He only pays for those sins which we repent of and give up if we give up all of them, it is all or nothing.

THE SERMON I NEVER GAVE

October 23rd, 2015

I was not allowed to give this talk because someone convinced my stake president that my testimony was not appropriate. It was the same testimony which I included in a letter to the First Presidency asking for my blessings to be restored. The letter resulted in the restitution of my blessings without any recriminations. If only our local members were as tolerant as is our First Presidency.
