My “blue Ink review” reviewer does not want you to read SOMEONE HAS TO PLUCK THE CHICKEN/SOMEONE GETS TO SOUND THE ALARM.
When the reviewer accuses me of presenting opinions as facts he/she acknowledges two exceptions, “(although he does cite Encyclopedia Britannica at length, as well as ‘talk show chatter’)”. Wanting a non-partisan view of the Working Man’s International I drew my information on that organization from the Britannica. I used it as a backdrop for some very negative information on communism for which I gave sources as follows. From George Seldes, Witness to a Century I cited the number of children saved by American aid in Russia when people were dying by the millions in 1922-1923. From Stalin’s daughter, Svetlana Alliluyeva, in her Twenty Letters to a Friend I cited her testimony on the number of her relatives killed by Stalin’s cohort, Beria. Also cited, Tim Tzouliadis in Forsaken describes millions slaughtered in Russia during the 1930s. Martin Ebon’s Svetlana was also quoted. Jamie Glazov was also cited in United in Hate for descriptions of genocide in China. In the joint autobiography of Will and Ariel Durant I cited Wills failed plans to infiltrate the Catholic clergy for the purpose of turning that church towards socialism. Also from United in Hate, Carol Tavris’ glowing report of China in the 1950s or 1960s after horrible genocide. She made it sound like nirvana compared to the USA.My reviewer insists that my book is not “a warm and fuzzy memoir about life lessons learned, but an attack on intellectuals elites, the mainstream media and their Hollywood supporters, atheists, and evil people waging war on our culture and, above all, ‘liberals.’(In chapter 12 alone, ‘liberal(s)’ in quotation marks appears 42 times.)” What the reviewer failed to tell was that chapter 12 is about the partisan divide in this country. Knowing that every “liberal” is not a Democrat and every Democrat is not a “liberal” I chose not to lay the blame for every “liberal’ evil deed on Democrats.
Contrary to what my reviewer says, my book has a large portion of “warm and fuzzy” stuff in addition to paying tribute to the blacks and others who served in WWII. When we moved to Pacheco, California folks were still talking about the naval vessel which blew up destroying the nearby town of Port Chicago. The military was still segregated and the ship was manned by blacks so the tragic death of so many of one ethnic group influenced the end of segregation in the Navy. I have contributed to the Minnesota wing of the Tuskegee Airmen and I purchased a hand-carved scale model of a P-51 Red Tail Mustang for my office. My book contains half a page about their exploits which I gleaned from A-Train by Lt. Col. Charles Dryden, USAF (retired).
The reviewer did such a hatchet job that I was tempted to call him/her a liar, but then I concluded that he/she must be a radical atheist and I don’t have the heart to blame an atheist for getting upset over what was found in my book. Radical atheists live in such an opaque bubble that they can’t help hating those who try to break through it in order to challenge their view of reality. Radical atheists are so controlled by their genetic makeup and learned behavior I can hardly blame them for their bad attitudes. It remains for those of us who have been reborn and become new creatures to take the high road. Even some atheists were born with enough sense of karma that they can judge between right and wrong and avoid being knee-jerk leftists and haters of Christians. Some of them are outstanding people.
As a saved Christian and a Mormon I have to admit that radical atheists have a lot in common with some of us. Jesus warned us to beware of those who trust in their own righteousness and despise others. While many radical atheists don’t have a well defined sense of right and wrong, some of them do. Beyond a sense of right and wrong the thing which can really make a difference between decent human beings and the rest of humanity is a healthy amount of self doubt. Where that is lacking fanaticism can raise prejudice and evil to enormous heights. I will speculate no further than I already have on the attitudes of my reviewer, but something has certainly spoiled his/her attempt to review my book with an open mind.
